ベネッセ教育総合研究所の調査結果によりますと、コロナ禍の悩みや気がかりとして、母親の約 2～3 割が（園や地域と）「つながりをもてない」としており、コロナ禍の子育てに向き合う気持ちについて、「子どもがうまく育っているか不安になる」と答えた人は、つながりの多い保護者群が 62.2%であったのに対し、つながりの少ない保護者群では 78.9%と上昇しています。

コロナ禍においては、学校行事や保護者会、PTA 活動、地域をつなぐイベントも軒並み自粛となり、特に新しくコミュニティを築くきっかけを失った新入生の親にとっては、他の学年の親以上に「孤立子育て感」=「孤育て」が深まる原因となっています。
